Lake Manitoba update: September 27, 2022 by Dr. Scott Forbes

It has been a week of little change. The level of Lake Manitoba is down slightly to 812.32 feet. Outflow at Fairford is also down to 5,898 cfs, while flow downstream on the Dauphin River fell to 6,392 cfs. Inflow to Lake Manitoba is up, to 4,132 cfs on the Waterhen River (unchanged from last week) and 239 cfs on the Whitemud River. The level of Lake St. Martin is down slightly to 800.62 feet. The level of Lake Winnipegosis is unchanged at 830.90 feet. Flow on the Assiniboine continues to fall to 893 cfs at Holland, and 1,084 cfs at Headingly. The Shellmouth Reservoir continues to drop, falling to 1400.57 feet this morning.

The level of Lake Manitoba continues to fall in the dry weather, sitting at 812.36 feet today. That is down a tenth of a foot from last week. Outflow at Fairford is also down to 6,286 cfs, while flow downstream on the Dauphin River is 6,745 cfs. Inflow to Lake Manitoba is up, to 4,132 cfs on the Waterhen River and 301 cfs on the Whitemud River. The level of Lake St. Martin is up slightly to 800.66 feet. The level of Lake Winnipegosis rose to 830.90 feet but that is also wind affected. Flow on the Assiniboine continues to fall to 1,038 cfs at Holland, and 1,232 cfs at Headingly. The Shellmouth Reservoir continues to drop, falling to 1400.90 feet this morning.

After another dry week the level of Lake Manitoba has dropped back into its operating range (810.5 to 812.5 ft), sitting at 812.46 feet today. That is subject to some uncertainty as wind changes are affecting the lake level. Outflow at Fairford is down to 6,851 cfs, while flow downstream on the Dauphin River is 6,992 cfs. Inflow to Lake Manitoba from the Waterhen River is down to 3,849 cfs and 275 cfs from the Whitemud River. The level of Lake St. Martin dropped this week to 800.64 feet. The level of Lake Winnipegosis dropped to 830.55 feet but that is also wind affected. Flow on the Assiniboine continues to fall to 1,063 cfs at Holland, and 1,543 cfs at Headingly. The Shellmouth Reservoir continues to drop, falling to 1400.90 feet this morning.

Inflow to Lake Manitoba from the Waterhen River is down to 4,414cfs and 310 cfs from the Whitemud River. The level of Lake St. Martin dropped this week to 800.82 feet. The level of Lake Winnipegosis dropped to 831.04 feet. Flow on the Assiniboine continues to fall to 1,296 cfs at Holland, and 1,586 cfs at Headingly. The Shellmouth Reservoir continues to drop, falling to 1401.19 feet this morning.
