Lake Manitoba update: Nov. 24, 2019

We are now approaching the winter doldrums where little is changing. Lake Manitoba is sitting at 811.53 feet this morning, almost unchanged from last week. Inflow on the Waterhen River is uncertain with the effects of ice: the gauge is reading 4,873 cfs this morning. Inflow on the Whitemud River remains very low at 133 cfs. Outflow at Fairford is currently 2,695 cfs, up slightly from last week. Lake Winnipegosis is sitting at 830.58 feet this morning, remaining near its long-term average level for this time of year. Lake St. Martin is rising slowly, reaching 798.51 feet this week. Flow on the Dauphin River is 4,873 cfs, a reading that I suspect may be ice affected and too high. Flow on the Assiniboine is registering 3,573 cfs at Headingly, up sharply from last week – I am not sure if that reading is real or ice-affected: ice definitely appears to be affecting the gauge at Holland. The level of the Shellmouth Reservoir continues to drop, sitting at 1401.28 feet today.
