Lake Manitoba update: Jan. 17, 2016

A bit of good news. It appears that the ice affected gauges have been calibrated over the last week and so we can get a much better idea of what is currently going on. Lake Manitoba continues to fall but very, very slowly. We are down three hundredths of a foot this week to 811.73 feet. Inflow from the Waterhen is currently 2,471 cfs, about half of the outflow at Fairford of 5,013 cfs. Flow at the Whitemud is negligible at 51 cfs. Lake St. Martin is rising rapidly, up about 1/6th of foot over the last week to 800.54 ft. The Assiniboine gauges are currently registering just under 1,800 cfs, treble the average flow for this time of year.
