Today Scott Greenlay, Scott Forbes and Don Clarkson presented, on behalf of ALMS, observations regarding the 2011 Flood, as well as recommendations for the Commission’s consideration.

Thank you for your effort.However I agree with Oli Olson.The outlet has to balance with the Portage Diversion.You can’t have more coming into the lake than the outlet can handle.

The presentation certainly was well done,however, I feel very strogly that the recommendations fall short of what has to be done to keep the lake at a level that the adjacent land can be used as it has been ,historically.
The 2011 flood was an eye opener to cottagers, however only reinforced what many of surrounding farmers and ranchers have been experienceing for many years.,since the portage diversion.
There is no point in flooding us out for the growing and cropping season, and drying us out for winter. The lake could bounce over 812 for a few weeks in may, with no harm to anyone.However trying to hold it at 812 for the summer, or allowing it to exceed 812 for up to 4 months, will set up tides that will affect alot of farmland, and shoreline.
Ideally, outlet channel capacity has to match the portage diversion capacity,with a berm on the inlet that will spill at 812. This would provide for a self regulation on the outlet, and not haveing to worry about anyone falling asleep at the stop lights,AGAIN.
A 6-8000cfs channel will not handle it with all the tributaries running @ full capacity, as they do in a wet year. This would still let the lake up to 814, a level that could have the capacity, with the right wind,to pound alot of cottages off the map.
